Patton Elementary and the Patton PTA are hosting a Diaper Drive for Austin Diaper Bank to meet the immediate needs of those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Diapers, from newborn to adult, are non covered relief items – diapers are not supplied by disaster relief agencies, and they are essential to keep babies, children and adults clean, dry and healthy. The Austin Diaper Bank is providing diapers to Hurricane Harvey victims and flood victims in Central and Southern Texas. The Central Texas Food Bank and the Austin Disaster Relief Action Network is helping distribute them to places of need. Currently, the Austin Diaper Bank is accepting the following donations:
- Baby diapers – all sizes accepted, but most needed items are size 4,5,6;
- Adult diapers – all sizes accepted, but most needed items are adult size XL/XXL;
- Diaper cream (unopened);
- Diaper wipes (unopened);
- Feminine hygiene products; and,
- Baby formula.
Please bring donations to the front hall beginning Tuesday, September 5.
Please also consider volunteering at the Diaper Bank to sort, count and pack diapers – an easy and kid-friendly activity! Volunteer shifts are being continuously added to help with the large volume of diaper donations. The Austin Diaper Bank has 1.5 employees and is thankful for the army of volunteers who are giving their time to process and wrap all the diaper donations pouring into the Bank.
